Day 8
Did you watch
Good Morning America this morning? If you did chances are you saw
the majority of our group as part of the background crowd for the
show. On our second sightseeing day, more than half of our group got
up insanely early this morning to make the taping of America's most
popular morning news program. At five forty-five we left Faith
Baptist and boarded the subway for Times Square. The studio was
already very busy by seven o'clock when we arrived. We were not able
to go inside for the taping, but we were able to stand outside. We
got a chance to meet Tony Perkins when he came out to do the
weather. Some even got to meet Dianne Sawyer and Charley Gibson and
shake their hands.
The group
continued up to the Ed Sullivan theater and did some souvenir shopping at
a nearby store. Those who chose sleep over national fame met us
about ten o'clock at the Hershey store in Times Square. From there
the group went to Rockefeller Center. We took time for a New York
lunch and visited
the stores. Next the group went to Central Park and Canal Street for
some more shopping. We returned to the church around 3:30, packed
our luggage and got ready for the final Cola War.
We are tired
but excited about our last night of ministry. The war went well
again tonight. The teens played "Tube tug," "Don't
crack the pack," and "Slam it." Pepsi one tonight for the
third time sealing their victory for the week. At the end of
tonight's meeting Pastor Sawyer preached a gospel message and eleven teens
responded to the invitation for salvation. Both pastor Sawyer and
Pastor Swanson were very excited about what God did this week. They
have already requested that we come back again next year! We know that we
have encouraged this church by being here. Pray that God continues
to work in the people who were saved this week and that other will come to
know him as they continue doing teen rallies over the next two
weeks.
After the War we
returned to the Ice King of Corona by popular demand and had a cold treat
before we cleaned up for the bus ride home. We pulled out
late. Just before two o'clock and expect to be home tomorrow by
eight o'clock.
Please pray for safety and that God will help us to stay to the decisions
that we made this week.
