Day 1
Sorry that this update came later than
expected. Our internet connection took some time to get set up.
Today got underway earlier than most days. We pulled out of the church
parking lot just before midnight and started the long trek for New York. The night was pretty restless for most. The fortunate
were able to sleep for three or four hours as they spread out across the
floor, seats, and each other, but that didn't seem to dull the energy of
the teens as they talked and laughed late into the night and early this
morning to welcome the rising son. Pastor Dave challenged us with a
message by
Steven Saint, the son of martyred
missionary Nate Saint after
we played a group game to break up the monotony of the drive.
We
arrived at Faith Baptist Church in Queens at about 5:30 EST.
After unpacking the luggage, arranging the rally material, and taking care
of the food we met for a short missions meeting and headed out for a late
supper at McDonalds.
After supper we headed to Manhattan for some some sight
seeing. The city was too busy to allow us to get out and walk around
tonight, but we got a good look at Battery Park, Ground Zero, and Time
Square out the bus windows thanks to some incredible driving by Kris
Stauff. After arriving back at the church around 10:15 we all
enjoyed some much welcomed sleep. Tomorrow we look forward to
canvassing and cleaning.
