College
Tour 2004
Monday, April 5, 2004 - Travel to
Bob Jones University
We left at about 5:10 a.m. from Green Bay,
and arrived in Greeneville, SC, at about 9:40 p.m. EST. God
gave us a safe trip and we're all having a great time together. Hope you
enjoy the pictures. We leave Wednesday morning for Pensacola, Florida.
Keep on praying for us.
Tuesday, April 6, 2004 - At BJU
all day
Today our students got a little feel for what it
was like to be a college student. They were required to attend two classes
and chapel. And they got a taste for college food when we ate lunch in the dining hall. We viewed the multimedia program called A
Sure Foundation, a kind of virtual tour of Bob Jones University.
Believe it or not, we spent about 45 minutes in the art museum. There are
some old paintings in there -- many of them are 500 years old -- wow! Then
we went to the mall and ate dinner at Ruby Tuesday. Tomorrow, to
Pensacola...
Wednesday, April 7, 2004 - Travel
to Pensacola Christian College
We left Greenville at about 9 a.m. after a stop at a Krispy Kreme donut
shop. Wow, are they good right off the conveyor! Right after we got on the
road, we had a "family meeting" to debrief and discuss the
college, and college in general. We arrived in
Pensacola, Fla., at about 5 p.m. After dinner we attended church,
then had some free time before bed. Maybe I should mention that on the
trip today the guys got even. (Earlier
in the week Mindy beat all the guys in PS2 boxing -- she was tough. So we
did what any self-respecting guy would do -- we practiced. Then we got
even. Thankfully, Mindy was a good sport about it, but she was still tough
to beat.)
Thursday, April 8, 2004 - At PCC all day
Our group met at 8:15 a.m. for a short multimedia presentation, then a
campus tour. After the tour we went to chapel, then our students attended
two classes before we headed off to the beaches of Gulf Breeze in the
afternoon. It was a beautiful sunny day, and about 75 degrees. The beach
was practically deserted. The girls took a short dip and enjoyed some sun,
while the guys went farther down the beach for a little swimming and some
football. We also tried tried to dig up a few lizards (no success). We had
dinner on the campus, then went bowling in the sports center. Tomorrow we
head to Indianapolis.
Friday, April 9, 2004 - Travel to
Heritage Baptist University
This must have been the longest day of the College Tour. We left PCC at
about 9 a.m. and arrived at HBU in Indianapolis at about 10:30 p.m. We
had our usual "family meeting" just after leaving which provided
opportunities again to talk about college. Along the way, an accident on
the southbound side of Interstate 65 backed up traffic in our northbound
lanes for several miles -- "Gawkers Block." It seemed like we'd never
arrive, but we finally did. (And one more thing: The title of
"TD" probably should be shared by all of us. We all had our
moments. Maybe we'll get another chance to go a few more rounds sometime.)
Saturday, April 10, 2004 - Travel to
Green Bay
We left Heritage Baptist University at 9 a.m. after breakfast and a
short campus tour. As usual, we had our family meeting right away. The
trip home was relatively uneventful but a lot of fun nonetheless. We spent about 45
minutes cleaning right before we arrived home, then had one last family meeting
to thank the Lord for a great trip. It's one we'll never forget!

Dear Ryan, Josh, Luke, Tyler, Joy, Mindy,
Hannah, Elizabeth, and Ashley:
It's my prayer for you that you seek the Lord. "In all thy
ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths" (Proverbs
3:6). He is worthy of all your love, your trust, your time, and your
talents. Will you let Him guide your steps? I love you, and can't wait to
see what the Lord is going to do with your life.

Wednesday afternoon, we finally arrive in Florida. Or are we standing
in "Flobama?" We waited patiently for the girl to take our picture.
At least it made us all smile.
