In January of 2013, Bay City Baptist will open a biblical Christian counseling ministry. In biblical counseling, counselors use God's Word to help those struggling under the weight of personal sin, or the suffering of difficult life circumstances. We believe the Bible reveals all the necessary information and counsel for everyday life. As David Powlison writes: "As we look more closely at life, it becomes clearer and clearer that Scripture is about counseling: ...causal explanations of behavior and emotion, interpretation of external sufferings and influences, definitions of workable solutions, character of the counselor, goals for the counseling process…these are all matters to which God speaks directly, specifically, and frequently." We believe genuine heart change is dependent on God, who loves people deeply. We believe Christian counseling must include a love for God, a love for people, prayer, dependence on God, a thorough knowledge of the Bible, and a working understanding of how to minister to people. We look forward to ministering to your needs in the days to come. Biblical counselors are currently being trained through CCEF.
